Waking to sunshine was a real difference today, fortunately it was something that stayed with us through the whole day as well. Due to the friday rain, the schedule was slightly delayed. However there were only the 1/256 finals outstanding from the day before, so total delay time was only 35 minutes. Very impressive considering the rain postponed things for hours on friday, fantastic effort by the club and EFRA.
A dry night meant a dry track. It only needed a few hours in the sun to warm up to an amazing pace. Even the early finals were interesting, it's particularly interesting to keep and eye on some of the "up and coming" drivers, who could just be challenging for the title in a few years.
There are simply to many finals to mention each in detail so the report will concentrate only on the very top end, the semi finals and main. The A semi's saw the event top qualifier, Robert Batlle, finish comfortably in front, followed by Hernandez, Matias, Boero, Tortorici and Lachat who all go through to the final. Kyosho/Novarossi driver Raul Peris actually finished ahead of Lachat, however Peris received 10 second penalty, which despite his protest, put him behind Lachat and just missing the chance to race the main. A shame for the Spaniard who had been driving so well all week.
The B semi final did not escape without incident and excitement. Arguably the event favourite, Yannick Aigoin, suffered a problem ending his chance of even bumping to the main final. At first it seemed that the car had suffered a clutch failure. It later transpired that the engine had shifted inside the buggy, and lost the drive through the drive train. A problem it appears missed by Yannick before the start of the race, a real shame, but that's racing. Yannick, the true ambassador to the sport that he is, put a smile on his face and congratulated Batlle for qualifying for the top spot of the main. Sartel, Vega, Rabitti, Quagraine, J. aigoin and Savoya all bumped to the A main final.
Without exaggerating, the A main was one of the best finals I have seen. I was so immersed in the close and intense racing, I found it difficult to take photographs of the action! At this time the temperature was good, the track had a good groove and plenty of grip. Batlle started on pole, but only led the pack for a part of the first lap, where a mistake was made that put him last. Leading the pack now were three drivers, Matias, Hernandez and Savoya. These three drivers were all very quick, and passed each other multiple times even before the first pit stop!
At this point I decided that Batlle's chances were very limited. Perhaps if he was lucky a podium place. After all these are 12 of Europe's fastest drivers, even with an edge, passing them all would be impossible. Well the current leaders went into pit, and I noticed not only had Batlle caught up, but he was pushing for the lead. After all the driver had their first pit Batlle was fighting for top place with Matias, Hernandez and Savoya. For around 5 minutes these places were swapping around, until Batlle finally managed to get out front and create a lead. He kept this lead until the 45 final was over, and he became European Champion 2007. Very hard fight, well won and deserved.
Here are the full finishing results.

We do hope you have enjoyed our coverage, and that our lack of sleep to bring this to you has been worth it. Until next year....
